It's been a trying day. You go into the house, greet the family, and find yourself in the kitchen. The fridge is like a magnet, a huge, habitual magnet, drawing you to it without your even being aware of it.
The power of this magnet is emmense.
And it's nothing to do with hunger.
It's to do with conditioning, habit, the usual.
Before you realise it, you're halfway through some handy snacks and you're searching for the rest.
And all this while your dinner is being got ready from the oven.
Which in itself, started some months ago, now acccounts for the tight waistband, the rounding over the belt, the tightnesss of the collar.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Try this.
Break the pattern. Open the fridge door, close it. Do that again. And again.
Now sing to the family for 20 seconds, full voice, no restrictions on the volume.
Now do 10 squats in the middle of the kitchen. Run up the stairs and back down again. Four times.
By which time your dinner's on the table. And the family have gone into hiding. And your problem now is to recapture the peace, harmony and happines that has been your home life to this minute.
Which is ok too as you've changed the pattern of coming home and in the door. And your mind is in a different mode as you arrive. You'll be keen to let the family know you're ok and they don't have to hide, run away or call the people in the white coats.
So you make a different entrance. You feel different about how you are, think and behave. So next time give everyone a hug and a kiss and spend 2 minutes asking them about their day and another 2 minutes listening. Resolve to do this for 28 days, with just the occasional opening/closing of the fridge door, or just a quick trip halfway up the stairs and back.
Remember, 28 days. Report back to me.

Start

http://davidhegarty.weebly.com/1/post/2011/04/start.html

http://davidhegarty.weebly.com/1/post/2011/04/start.html#comments

Uncategorized

Whatever you do , get started. On anything.
